Lots of skin whitening products that cause damage
Homemade skin bleaching :: Chemicals traditionally used in skin whitening products can include hydroquinone, mercury and steroids. While the use of these chemicals has been banned in some countries, ingredients like hydroquinone may still be prescribed by physicians.
The biggest danger of exposing the skin and body to these toxic chemicals is that, over time, they can produce adverse side effects and serious health concerns including skin discoloration, malfunctions of the nervous system and internal organs and an increased risk of cancer.
Homemade skin bleaching :: Mercury is a chemical element with symbol Hg and atomic number 80. It is commonly known as quicksilver and was formerly named hydrargyrum. A heavy, silvery d-block element, mercury is the only metallic element that is liquid at standard conditions for temperature and pressure; the only other element that is liquid under these conditions is bromine, though metals such as caesium, gallium, and rubidium melt just above room temperature.
Mercury occurs in deposits throughout the world mostly as cinnabar (mercuric sulfide). The red pigment vermilion is obtained by grinding natural cinnabar or synthetic mercuric sulfide.
Mercury poisoning can result from exposure to water-soluble forms of mercury (such as mercuric chloride or methyl-mercury), by inhalation of mercury vapor, or by ingesting any form of mercury.
When mercury is used for skin whitening the initial side effects can include skin rashes, skin discoloration and scarring. Long term exposure to mercury can have more serious health consequences.
The World Health Organisation advises that using mercury on a long term basis can damage the kidneys and the nervous system. It can also cause depression or psychosis and interfere with the development of the brain in unborn children and very young children.
Homemade skin bleaching :: A steroid is an organic compound with four rings arranged in a specific configuration. Examples include the dietary lipid cholesterol, the sex hormones estradiol and testosterone and the anti-inflammatory drug dexamethasone. Steroids have two principal biological functions: certain steroids (such as cholesterol) are important components of cell membranes which alter membrane fluidity, and many steroids are signaling molecules which activate steroid hormone receptors.
The steroid core structure is composed of seventeen carbon atoms, bonded in four “fused” rings: three six-member cyclohexane rings (rings A, B and C in the first illustration) and one five-member cyclopentane ring (the D ring). Steroids vary by the functional groups attached to this four-ring core and by the oxidation state of the rings. Sterols are forms of steroids with a hydroxyl group at position three and a skeleton derived from cholestane. They can also vary more markedly by changes to the ring structure (for example, ring scissions which produce secosteroids such as vitamin D3).
The high doses of steroids found in the illegal skin whitening creams can also interfere with the body’s hormone levels and, in extreme cases, can result in disorders such as Cushings syndrome which affects the adrenal gland.
Unfortunately, many skin-lightening creams contain illegal compounds which can include high-dose steroids. Although steroids can be useful in treating inflammation of the skin caused by diseases such as eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis, they were never intended for skin lightening use.
When steroids are prescribed this take place under the supervision of a skin specialist and the usage is generally minimised to a few short weeks.
Steroids can also slow the process of cell regeneration so less melanocytes are formed, leading to a decline in melanin production. The negative side of slowing the skin’s natural cell renewal is that the epidermis (outer skin layer) can becomes thinner and many people complain of the appearance of green veins in the skin.
Unmonitored use of high-dose steroids can lead to many problems. The thinning effect on the skin can increase the risk of physical damage to the skin. The skin can become more susceptible to chemical and environmental factors and there will be an increased risk of sun damage and additional pigmentation problems.
And many more ingredients that should be avoided its use.
Homemade Skin Bleaching Products
Homemade skin bleaching :: Most of the skin lightening products have side effects, dangers and risks to the skin. Especially when used in excess or on sensitive skin they can be a real problem. Rashes, allergies, skin irritations, permanent bleaching and skin burning are some of the most harmful effect of these products. You can however attain a fair skin using natural ingredients that are safe and gentle on your skin.
Here is a natural substance that is often used for skin whitening.
Papaya, lemon Juice recipe
Homemade skin bleaching :: Apply an antioxidant- vitamin rich – alpha hydroxy acid, like lemon juice or papaya. Alpha hydroxy acid rich fruits, like lemon and papaya, naturally exfoliate skin.
They also fight free radicals and help with new skin cell growth and turnover. Lemons, rich in Vitamin C and citric acid, help lighten skin.
Papayas, which contain an enzyme call papain, help with hyperpigmentation.
Slice fresh lemon or papaya (removing seeds) and rub slices over skin, coating the areas with the juice. 100% Lemon Juice from concentrate on a cotton pad/square/ball can be substituted.
Allow to sit and dry on skin for 10 minutes, no more than 20 minutes, rinse with luke warm water.
For very dark problem areas or spots, apply slices directly onto area and leave for no more than 10 minutes and rinse with luke warm water. If using papaya, it may help to dice and create a pulp.
Remember, this is an acid treatment, meaning your skin can dry out if you fail to properly moisturize. When treating with an alpha hydroxy acid always use an SPF lotion, as your skin is more sensitive.
Apply no more than twice a day, and if you have sensitive skin, opt for using a diluted lemon juice.
Avoid eye area, leaving juice or pulp on skin for no more than 15 minutes then rinse with luke warm water.
Lemon juice recipe
Homemade skin bleaching :: Lemon juice has been used for thousands of years as a natural skin lightener. It contains acids that lightly bleach the skin and exfoliate the top layer of darker skin cells. Since pure lemon juice can be irritating to skin, make a lemon juice solution by mixing one part lemon juice to one part water. Take a cotton ball and spread the solution on your skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash it off with warm water.
Limit your application of lemon juice solution to just two to three times per week. Applying it more often could lead to skin irritation. Apply a moisturizer after rinsing off the lemon juice because the juice can dry out your skin.
You should begin to see results after three to four weeks of using the solution several times per week. While lemon juice doesn’t provide instant lightening effects, it’s the most effective natural solution available.
Use caution if you ever attempt to put any kind of citrus juice on your face. Phytophotodermatitis can be caused by a reaction between UV light and photosynthesizing chemicals found in citrus fruits. While it’s fine to use lemon juice on your skin, you need to wash it off thoroughly before going out in the sun.
Almon oil, milk, lemon, and honey recipe
Homemade skin bleaching :: Mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with equal amounts of honey and milk powder. Add half a tablespoon of almond oil and mix all the ingredients together. Apply this mask on your face for 10 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
The healthy nutrients milk contains can reduce acne and maintain your skin young, thanks to the antioxidant and anti-aging properties they have. Milk contains high amounts of calcium and B vitamins that promote skin health and contribute to skin lightening.
Honey is another helpful skin lightening ingredient. It has anti-microbial properties, it can treat sun burns and skin irritations. Honey has anti-aging, soothing and glowing effects on the skin.
